Joan Betros - Producer

Joan Betros has had 30 years of experience in the media and entertainment field, which has covered just about every aspect of production. Her medium is Television, Radio, and Network News, live production, documentaries, and motion picture. She is the Executive Director of Fairfax Public Access, Channel 10, Channel 30 International, and WEBR Radio, Channel 37. She is also the Associate Producer of the up and coming independent film, "Dream Catcher", written and directed by McKay Daines and the Executive Producer of the motion picture "Lakota Dawn" that is currently under development with Lakota Productions. Joan is also president and owner of JB Productions, Journey Enterprises, and the creator and Executive Producer of "Light Journey", a full-length motion picture that is currently under development.

Ms. Betros has received many awards during her career. Among them are: the prestigious "Georgia Pioneer Award" for Outstanding Female Morning Radio Personality; "Outstanding Young Women of America" from the State of Maryland; Cable News Network Media Salute for "Personality of the Year"; Cable News Media Salute for the "Number one Talk Show Host"; and in her younger years was featured in Sports Illustrated as "Cheerleader of the year".

To add to her list of credits, she is currently producing "10 For Bluegrass", an ongoing Bluegrass series for Channel 10 that is highlighting many well known Bluegrass stars; The "Nashville Connection", a singer/songwriter series for all aspiring singers and songwriters staring hit songwriter, Jason Blume, and top style coach, Dave Brooks; and is developing and co-producing a new talk show, "Windows to Our Ways" that highlights the many diversified aspects of the Native American community. She has directed and hosted two thirty-minute live shows everyday for a period of three years for a CBS Television affiliate. She was also the field producer and correspondent for many CNN International pieces. She has also worked for NBC and ABC as a producer and correspondent. She produced and directed an audio magazine for travelers featuring TIME Magazine. She has produced, directed, and hosted many TV specials, live events, and "infomercials" for national and international distribution, and also has had a syndicated radio show.

The Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia was a highlight of her life. She covered the Masters Golf Tournament for three consecutive years for CBS. She then became a stringer, news correspondent, and freelance executive producer for CNN and later, for CNN International.

Ms. Betros worked with a very large media and publicity corporation in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and became their only female director/producer that has ever been hired. She was commissioned to write, produce, direct, and edit a television talk show for women and children. The show was called "Good Evening Arabia". The show was an hour long, and it was done in English. This was the first talk show magazine that allowed men and women on the same set. It was quite a breakthrough and a wonderful experience. That's where she learned much of her street Arabic, just so she could communicate!

Also while in Saudia Arabia, Joan was commissioned by the royal family of the King Faisal Foundation to produce, direct, and edit a philanthropic documentary that was filmed in Africa, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia.

She broke all barriers while filming for British Airways on the CONCORDE and filmed many of the great tourist attractions of London. She was the Executive Producer and Director.

During her stay in Saudi Arabia, she wrote, produced, and directed industrial films and produced and directed several very large live events for Special Olympics International which included a very large cast featuring fashion shows, live music, dancers, and television cameras. This was under the direction of the American Embassy in Saudi Arabia and the Bahrain Disabled Sports Committee.

Ms. Betros has filmed and interviewed Presidents, singing sensations, politicians, movie stars, princes, and paupers. She has a great talent for developing, producing, and connecting the right people to the right projects. She loves working with the public and producing uplifting projects that can change people's lives. Joan currently lives in Falls Church, Virginia with her husband, Fareed. She has 3 children, 3 grandchildren and two poodles.
