Drew Lacapa - Weldon

This Indigenous American Comedian who lives on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation in East-Central Arizona is bustin' loose by combining Native Folk tales, contemporary American humor with an Indian flair. The result is an eclectic vibrant vein of rich humor of the American Indian.

Son of a carpenter and a registered nurse, Drew was born in Whiteriver, Arisona. A majroity of his childhood summers were spent herding cattle. His winters involved assisting his father and five brothers to build houses. Throught his public school days, Drew said, "I spent most of my time getting paddled or in the principal's office. I was always pulling pranks. I also always pucked up for the underdogs." Drew also remembers watching shows like Ed Sullivan, Carol Burnette, and Red Skelton. Andrew "Drew" Lacapa, is an Apache, Hopi and Tewa, who calls himself "300 pounds of love." He believes he is not discriminatory, because he teases everyone, regardless of ethnicity, or religion. He has taught Non-Indian fols about snagging, Indian love calls and frybread.
